The Department of Law at Aarhus BSS invites applications: Assistant professorship/postdoc position with a focus on legal tech and AI

The Department of Law at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University invites applications for an assistant professorship or postdoctoral fellowship in jurisprudence with special focus on Legal Technology/Artificial Intelligence.

The position is a full-time and fixed-term three-year position starting 1 April 2019 or subject to mutual agreement.

An assistant professorship is a position for further education. Supervision and the opportunity of upgrading educational skills are provided with a view to developing the applicant’s teaching qualifications

Job description and qualifications
In all academic disciplines law is influenced by technological developments and the rapid digitisation of society. The surrounding society increasingly demands research into the legal framework for development, deployment and decommissioning of new technologies. The Department of Law wishes to strengthen its research efforts in this field.

The successful applicant is expected to contribute significantly to the department’s research and teaching focusing on the legal framework for development, deployment and decommissioning of new technologies, and to its overall research strategy in the field of digitisation. We expect the applicant to teach and supervise students at Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD level and that the candidate – independently and jointly with others – contribute to developing the academic field in question through research of high international quality. The teaching involved will primarily be at the BSc and MSc in Business Administration and Commercial Law programmes as well as at the Master of Laws programme. The applicant must therefore be capable of teaching in Danish or in the course of the three-year period acquire the skills to teach and examine in Danish.

The successful candidate must be willing to actively pursue the department objective of securing increased external funding.

To qualify for the position as assistant professor or postdoc you must hold a PhD or have equivalent academic qualifications.

Physical presence at the department will be required.
